In the same way that writing about what I do has become part of my practice as a visual artist, so too has the time I spend in nature evolved to include walking in it as a major part of that process and the search for an aesthetic that mirrors my own spiritual journey.
The notion to venture beyond the bounds of my familiar environment has grown into a desire to undertake an epic journey. The decision to take a horse on that journey is the realisation of a dream that began many years ago. However, after a gap of 14 years out of the saddle, and a Granny to my daughter’s first child, that dream of getting back on the trail with an equine companion has become even more pressing. The search for a suitable mount has begun. When I find that special equine spirit, the bond we develop will be crucial to the success or failure of the adventure. I shall be using my horse’s innate animal instincts together with my dowsing skills to help tap into an ancient system of energy lines and paths that ‘snake’ across the country, from old drovers tracks, quiet country by-roads to well-trodden pilgrim pathways, in a new quest to deepen my own spiritual and artistic connections to the landscape.
